2nd part - Another 15 Easy Kanji

In this lesson we will learn another 15 basic kanji that may subject to test in JLPT N5 exam.

Meaning: Yen (Japanese Monetary Unit); Circle; Round;

Onyomi: えん

Kunyomi: まる(い)

Vocabulary: 五円 (ごえん) - Five yen.

Meaning: Hundred;

Onyomi: ひゃく

Kunyomi: /

Vocabulary: 百貨店(ひゃっかてん)- A mart or departmental store.

Vocabulary: 百円店 (ひゃく-えん みせ) - One hundred yen shop; For example: Daiso;

Example sentence: 百貨店でおこめをかいます。

Meaning: Thousand;

Onyomi: せん

Kunyomi: ち

Vocabulary: 千円 (せんえん) - One thousand yen;

二千円 (にせんえん) - Two thousand yen;

三千円 (さんぜんえん) - Three thousand yen;

Example sentence: このかばんは三千円でかいました。- I bought this bag for three thousand yen.

Vocabulary: 百万円 (ひゃくまんえん) - 1 million

Vocabulary: 一月 (いちがつ) - January

Example Sentence: 一月一日 (いちがつついたち)はげつようびでした。。- 1st day of the month was Monday.

Onyomi: じんにん

Kunyomi: ひと

Vocabulary: 人口 (じんこう) Population;

Example Sentence: この人はやさしいです。- This person is kind.

Kunyomi: ちち

Vocabulary: 祖父 (そふ) - Grandfather;

Example Sentence: 父(ちち)はいしゃです。- My father is a Doctor.

Onyomi: ぼ

Kunyomi: はは

Vocabulary: 祖母 (そぼ) - Grandmother;

Example Sentence: 母の日(ははのひ)- Mother's day.

Onyomi: ふ; ふう; ぶ;

Kunyomi: おっと; それ

Vocabulary: 夫婦 (ふうふ) - Married couple;

Example Sentence: 彼(かれ)は良(よ)い夫(おっと)です。- He is a good husband.

Meaning: Older brother

Onyomi: けい; きょう;

Kunyomi: あに

Vocabulary: 兄弟 (きょうだい) - Siblings;

Example Sentence: ご兄弟 (きょうだい) はいますか? - Do you have any siblings?

Meaning: Older sister

Onyomi: し;

Kunyomi: あね;

Vocabulary: 姉妹 (しまい) - (Sibling) sisters;

Example Sentence: 姉 (あね) はやさしいです。

Meaning: Man, Male

Onyomi: だん; なん;

Kunyomi: おとこ

Vocabulary: 男性 (だんせい) - Male;

Example Sentence: どくしん男性(だんせい) - Single male; (

Meaning: Woman, Female

Onyomi: じよ; によ; にょう; あん;

Kunyomi: おんな; め;

Vocabulary: 王女 (おうじょ) - Princess;

Example Sentence: 彼女 (かのじょ) はきれいです。- She is beautiful.

Meaning: Child

Onyomi: し; す;

Kunyomi: こ;

Vocabulary: 子供 (こども) - Child; Children;

Example Sentence: 子供 (こども) のころ いちど がいこくへいった。- I went to overseas once at Childhood time.

So far we have learnt 25 kanji. We need to learn about 80-100 Kanji altogether as part of our JLPT N5 preparation.
